Langate: A Primary School that was made functional under Sarwa Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) in 2013 in North Kashmir is shut from past 10 days as the lone teacher at the school has gone on a long leave.
Under SSA, a Primary School was set up in a newly constructed building at Munwar Shah Hajan area of Langate Zone in North Kashmir in 2013.
The students roll according to locals came down heavily due to availability of only two female teachers. The two female teachers got themselves transferred some three months back as a result school remained shut for more than 20 days, a local Manzoor Ahmed said.
He said that Zonal Education Officer Langate posted a teacher in the school after residents approached him. The unfortunate part is that the teacher posted in the school has gone on a long leave and from past 10 days, the school is shut. The enrolled students have no option but to stay at home, said another local.
ZEO Langate said that he would look into the matter. (CNS)
