SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, today convened a meeting to review the mechanism to effectively monitor and stop illegal ferrying of construction material in LAWDA jurisdiction.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, VC LAWDA, Secretary LAWDA, SO to IGP Kashmir, Deputy SP Traffic, Deputy Director Planning, Assistant Commissioner and other concerned attended the meeting.
The meeting was informed that eight police stations which come under the jurisdiction of Lakes & Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) will help in keeping a check on illegal ferrying of construction material into the area.
The LAWDA Officials briefed that the Divisional Commissioner that 14 locations have been identified for installation of CCTV cameras to keep an eye on violations. Whereas, four CCTVs have already been installed by Police Department under LAWDA jurisdiction, the meeting was told.
The Div Com asked the police officials to provide the CCTV recording to LAWDA on weekly basis, so that relevant action in this regard can be taken.
He also directed the Police authorities to provide team of 15 policemen to LAWDA whenever the anti-encroachment demolition drive is carried-out by its workforce. He also stressed on greater synergy between LAWDA and Police Department for effective drive against illegal constructions.
