SRINAGAR: Dehli Public School Srinagar girls had better off Green Valley girls in the inaugural game of Inter-School Basketball Tournament played at Indoor Sports Stadium, Srinagar on Tuesday.
The tournament is being organised by Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council in collaboration with Srinagar District Basketball Association.
According to a statement issued by the organisers, fifteen teams each from both boys and girls categories are vying for top honours. The inaugural day saw four matches being played with DPS winning their both boys and girls event matches.
After DPS girls got off the mark with the win over Green Valley, boys also had a winning taste overpowering Kashmir Valley School to make it a good beginning for their school.
Biscoe School boys beat Green Valley boys while Mallinson girls defeated Kashmir Valley girls.
Secretary Sports Council Waheed ur Rehman Parra was in attendance at the opening ceremony. He interacted with the played and ensured them of holding such tournaments in future also.
The four-day tournament will see majority of the games being played on Wednesday and Thursday with finals being played on Friday.
