SRINAGAR: Showkat Ahmad blasted a hundred as Kashmir Knights thumped Srinagar Gymkhana by five wickets in the league fixture of Budgam Premier League played at Sheikhpora playground Budgam on Thursday.
Showkat took just 55 balls to score maiden hundred of the tournament as his side Kashmir Knights scaled down a mammoth target of 187 in the 19th over with loss of only five wickets.
Showkat was in a blistering form hitting fours and sixes at will to help his side seal a spot in the next round. He was declared man of the match for his winning effort.
Earlier Srinagar Gymkhana batted positively to make a huge score in their allotted 20 overs. Posting a huge 186 for the loss of seven wickets, Srinagar Gymkhana might have thought that there are in the drivers seat but that wasnt to be thanks to Showkats batting brilliance.

The second fixture of the day was also a high scoring encounter with Rizwan Royals coming up trumps by 12 runs against Rather XI Bandipora.
Batting first Rizwan Royals managed a huge score of 193 for the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. The star of the batting show for Rizwan Royals was Mohammad Rafiq who slammed a 47-ball 75 to power his side to a big score.
Rather XI Bandipora made a brave effort in pursuit of a massive target falling short by just 12 runs. Bandipora made 181 for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs in what turned out to be a run fest.
