Srinagar: In view of clashes between security forces and students in this summer capital on Monday, authorities have decided to suspend the class work in two Higher Secondary Schools in Srinagar on Wednesday.
Officials said the class work in S P Higher Secondary School (Boys) and Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kothi Bagh will remain suspended as a precautionary measure.
However, they said other higher secondary institutions, besides colleges will remain open in rest of the valley.
Business and other activities came to a halt in the civil lines when students of S P College, S P HSS and Womens College boycotted their classes and hit the streets on Monday, demanding action against the security forces, who entered Degree College Pulwama and allegedly thrashed students, including girls, on April 15.
However, students pelted stones after they were stopped from moving towards Lal Chowk by security forces, who burst teargas shells, used coloured water and resorted to lathicharge.
About 20 people were injured during these clashes.
