Srinagar: Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir (JeI) said that the presence of forces personnel near educational institutions vitiates the smooth educational environment as it creates hurdles in the movement of the students besides creating a sense of fear among the students.
JeI spokesperson Advocate Zahid Ali said that this seems to be a deliberate attempt to provoke these young and teenage students.
He said that on 24th April, by harassing the students of SP College, SP Higher Secondary School, Womens College, Kothi-Bagh Higher Secondary Institute, the smooth educational atmosphere was deliberately disturbed and when the students protested peacefully against this intimidation, the forces personnel used undue power of lathi-charge and tear smoke shelling upon the young generation and thereby ruined the cordial atmosphere of these institutions. The police action also left a number of innocent students injured and a number of them were also apprehended by the police.
Jamaat has described the police actions as unjustified and illegal which tantamount to ruin their educational career.
JeI demanded immediate and unconditional release of the apprehended students.
