Srinagar: Director General of Police (DGP) S P Vaid on Friday said a case has been registered into the killing of a protester by a paramilitary trooper who fired at him at point-blank range in Budgam area during Sunday by-poll.
Talking to a news channel, the police chief said that an FIR has also been lodged in case of video which showed a trooper shooting directly in the head of a stone-pelting protester outside a polling station in same area.
A case has been registered in connection with that incident also. It is a matter of investigation and action will be taken against whoever is found guilty, the DGP added.
He also hailed CRPF personnel for showing restraint while attacked by a group of youth. I congratulate CRPF men for exercising maximum restraint while they were attacked by ruffians. It would have been a tragedy, had they been retaliated, he said.
