Jammu: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today slammed National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah for his “double speak” on the stone pelters.
“Dr Abdullah is making self-contradictory statements about the stone pelters,” Ms Mufti told the mediapersons at the sidelines of a function here this morning.
She said, “in Srinagar, for Farooq Abullah stone pelters are fighters for the nation but in Jammu, the same stone throwers become Government paid agents”.
Mehbooba further added, “Dr Abdullah is confused and misleading the people and he has carved out a niche for himself as an icon of double standards”.
The Chief Minister also chastised the adamancy of the Election Commission of India for holding elections in volatile times in Kashmir despite State Government’s advise.
Earlier, while addressing the gathering at a function in University of Jammu she said, Centre should take Kashmir seriously.”
“We always said that we must listen and address the issues of youth. Situation is now out of control,” she said adding, “last year we faced worst time and the situation is similar this time too.”
Ms Mufti said that this problem must be treated with the participation of all stakeholders.
“A lava accumulating inside has now erupted as volcano and is seen on streets in Kashmir. It is needed to be treated,” said the chief minister. She however, lauded people of Jammu for maintaining calm and harmony.
“I need your cooperation and support to come out of turbulent times,” Mehbooba appealed.
