SRINAGAR: Jammu University Saturday had better off Kashmir University by a narrow margin of seven runs in the finals of cricket event of the first State Universities Championship played at Jammu University ground.
After winning the toss, the hosts posted a 110 on the board in the stipulated 20 overs. Fir the bowling side, Saqib Ahmad took a five wicket haul laced with a hattrick.
Kashmir University battled hard during the chase but felt short by seven runs to be bundled out for 103.
Kashmir University had a good outing overall in the championship winning three silvers and a bronze medal.
