Srinagar: On the occasion of first death anniversary of Hizbul Mujahideen militant Naseer Ahmad Pandit, militants this evening gave a gun salute to their associate at Kareemabad area of Pulwama district
A police official said panic gripped Kareemabad when some gunshots were heard in the area. He said that some militants had appeared at the graveyard of Hizb militant Naseer Pandit at martyrs’ graveyard Shaheed Park in Kareemabad and fired few shots in air to pay respect to their fallen associate.
Naseer was gunned down in a encounter last year on April 7 at Shopian along with another militant Waseem Ahmad Malla. His death anniversary was observed today with people thronging his house and holding prayer meetings. Meanwhile five youths were injured after clashes erupted at Manloo village of Shopian district. The clashes erupted after a police party arrived in the village and youth pelted stones on it.(GNS)
