Srinagar: The air traffic resumed this afternoon following improvement in the visibility despite intermittent rain from Srinagar International Airport, where seven morning flights were cancelled due to fresh snowfall in Kashmir.
Seven morning flights operating from Srinagar airport were cancelled due to fresh snow and rain since early this morning, resulting in poor visibility, an airport official said.
However, he said as the day progressed, the visibility improved despite intermittent rain in the afternoon.
He said as many as 37 flights were able to operate from the airport due to improvement in the visibility.
As many as 44 flights operate between Srinagar-Delhi and Srinagar-Jammu on daily bases from the only airport in the valley. Air traffic has been affected several times from the airport since January.
After waiting for over an hour, we were told that we will be able to board the flight to Delhi. We are a group of two people. We were in Kashmir since April 1 and the experience was amazing. I have to join office tomorrow, so Im glad that we will be able to go to Delhi today, Charu Thakur, a tourist from Delhi said.
However, the people who were scheduled to travel in morning flights were not that lucky. When we reached the airport in the morning we were told that the flights have been delayed. But after waiting for few hours, we were told that our flight has been cancelled, said Shabir Ahmad, who was scheduled to travel to Delhi.
