SRINAGAR: Claiming that Chadoora encounter was a clear example of Chief Minister Mehbooba Muftis words being ignored, former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Wednesday asked if anyone was even listening to the head of the Unified Command (UC).
Yesterday’s encounter is a clear example of CM’s words being ignored – 9 hrs long & result is a C grade militant with a Chinese pistol, Omar wrote on micro-blogging site Twitter. Unified Command is currently headed by Mehbooba Mufti as Chief Minister of J&K.

Jr Abdullah was reacting to Ms Mehboobas statement that police have been told to try and bring back local militants to their homes instead of killing them.
@MehboobaMufti claiming that police have been told not to kill local militants. Is anyone even listening to the head of the Unified Command, Omar wrote.
A militant died and an Indian soldier was injured in an encounter in Budgams Chadoora, where three civilians were killed and several others were injured in armed forces firing on demonstrators, who tried to help the trapped militant.
Mehboobas Language Has Changed
Holding incumbent Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti responsible for present Kashmir imbroglio, Congress party Wednesday said that Kashmir is likely to witness many more incidents like Chadoora where three civilians were shot dead by Government Forces on Tuesday.
Senior Congress leader Mani Shankar Ayer told Kashmir based news agency CNS that there is hell of difference between Mehbooba Mufti of past and Mehbooba Mufti of present. Her language and tone has totally changed after her party forged an alliance with Bhartiya Janata Party. It is not the same Mehbooba who talked about healing the wounds of people of Kashmir but it is the Mehbooba who talks like BJP now, that only aggravates the situation, Ayer said.
While regretting the killing of three civilians in Central Kashmir, Ayer said that 2016-17 winters in Kashmir had given a golden opportunity to Government of India to talk to stake-holders, but it missed that golden opportunity. We fail to understand why Government of India is shying away from talks. Only talks can lead to permanent solution. Even former Home Minister P Chidambaram had suggested to present BJP Government to rewind the clock back to 1947 and talk to the stake-holders, he said and added that he is afraid that incidents like Chadoora are bound to take place in future as well.
