Srinagar: Srinagar Municipal Corporation has approved 172 building permission cases in the first three months of the current year.
This was stated in a meeting chaired by Commissioner SMC Dr Shafqat Khan with the planning wing in order to streamline and review the progress on building permissions.
Commissioner was also informed about the number of cases that have not been disposed off yet as the Noc’s required from the line departments are pending in various cases.
On this Dr Shafqat has asked the line departments viza viz PHE,Revenue, PWD, SDA etc to speed up with the process and issue NOC’s in a time bound manner under Public Service Guarantee Act.
He also directed the concerned wing to act against violators in the city who had come up with structures by deviàting the sanctioned plans and encroaching upon the public land.
Such deviated permissions shall either be cancelled or kept in abeyance and a legal action shall be initiated against the violators. People are requested to desist from resorting any sort of violations while taking up constructions in the city, said Dr Shafqat.
While directing the planning wing to speed up and clear all backlog on account of building permissions Commissioner emphasized that there should be no unnecessary delay in issuance of building permissions which otherwise becomes a cause for applicants to resort to illegal practices and thus giving rise to corruption at various levels of system while obtaining permissions.
