Pulwama: Making a strong case for sustainable development of Jammu and Kashmir, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Anantnag Parliamentary constituency, Tassaduq Hussain Mufti today said the biggest asset of the State is its natural beauty and precious resources which need to be preserved.
Over the years, due to varied reasons, a lot of damage has been done to Kashmirs natural landscape with unregulated and ill-conceived developmental initiatives being the main cause for this disaster. It can only be undone when everyone among us starts realizing the importance of ecological restoration and its sustainability, he said while addressing a election campaign meeting at Awantipora.
Tassaduq said the real empowerment of the people lies in stability and sustainability of the natural systems and for that we all must work together for the sake of our future generations. He said the common goal for economic and social empowerment has to be pursued that shall not compromise our future. This is the dream of my life. I have been working silently on this front. And my role is to bring consciousness on this vital issue among the people. If I will be able to motivate a single individual to pursue this goal, that is my success, he added. He said our overall growth is directly dependent on natural resources, so we must plan our development by taking due care of our environment.
Speaking on the occasion, senior party leader and Minister for Finance, Dr Haseeb A Drabu said Tassaduq is not only the son of a political stalwart but also a successful individual in his area of work and his presence will bring a new dimension to the political discourse of the state.
Young-men like Tassaduq are our real investment whose ideas and international experiences will guide us to make better future for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He has different workable ideas for harnessing the true potential of our natural resources, he added.
Appealing the people to support Tassaduq, Dr Drabu said we must strengthen his hands so that he can pursue his ideas with great conviction and energy for the larger good of the State and its people.
Speaking on the occasion, MoS Forest and MLA Pampore Zahoor Ahmad Mir said the government is working on series of reformative measures to empower the people of the state as was done by late Mufti Mohammed Sayeed. He said the PDP has a proven track record of creating an enabling environment for the promotion of businesses, commerce, tourism and creating avenues of meaningful and respectable employment opportunities for the educated youth in the state.
