Srinagar: President Pranab Mukherjee has approved appointment of Delhi High Court judge Justice Badar Durrez Ahmad as new Chief Justice of the J&K High Court.
Ahmad, son of former president Fakhruddin Ali Ahmad, is the most senior judge of the Delhi High Court. A notification of the appointment has already been issued.
The development came after Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High NN Paul Vasanthakumar retired earlier this month.
Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar has since been the acting chief justice.
