Srinagar: Medicos while exhibiting highest level of negligence, allegedly left a blood vessel of a pregnant lady unstitched at MCH Sopore during a surgery, resulting in heavy loss of blood, thereby damaging her both kidneys and leaving her battling for life.
KNS quoting victims family reported that a group of doctors at MCH Sopore conducted a surgery of the lady who was pregnant. The family accuses that the negligent doctors while operating the patient left her one blood vessel open that resulted in heavy loss of blood.
A lady doctor (Name withheld) who conducted the surgery of my sister a few days ago at MCH Sopore had left her vain open which has resulted in the huge blood loss to the patient, Firous Ahmad, brother of a lady patient, Syed Tahira who is currently admitted in SMHS hospital for treatment, alleged.
He accused that soon after the surgery, the MCH Sopore authorities asked them to shift the patient to Srinagars LD hospital due to the non-availability of blood there.
We went to LD where authorities informed us that the patient is almost dead. My sister was put on ventilator for four days at LD hospital but unfortunately, the doctors there informed us that both the Kidneys of the patient are almost fully damaged due to the loss of the blood, he said.
However, according to patients brother, after providing almost eight points of blood to the patient, the hospital authorities asked them to shift the patient to SMHS now for her Kidney treatment.
The patient is currently in Ward No 06 on Bed no 12 where she is currently undergoing treatment. The doctors here also informed us that both the kidneys of the patient are fully damaged, Firdous said.
The family later said that authorities must take immediate action against the doctors at MCH Sopore so that such alleged negligence would be stopped in future. (KNS)
982 gall stones removed from patient
District Hospital Baramulla has performed a successful laparoscopic cholecystectomy of a lady patient and about 982 stones were recovered from the gall bladder specimen, officials said.
Officials said that a 34 year old female patient with h/o hypothyroidism and hypertension on treatment weighing about 120 kgs having had recurrent attacks acute cholecystitis was optimized for surgery and a successful laparoscopic cholecystectomy was performed on her on Mar 23 in District Hospital Baramulla and about 982 stones were recovered from the gall bladder specimen.
The team comprised of Dr Shakeeb Nabi Lone (minimal access surgeon), Dr Syed Nazima (Consultant Anaesthesia) and theatre assistants Abdul Karim, Fareed, Syed Asgar, Nazir Chenga and Junaid Sofi.
The Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman and Medical Superintendent, DH Baramulla applauded the operating team for an uneventful surgery on a high risk case with morbid obesity. (KNS)
