SRINAGAR: Asserting that Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah were the main reasons behind the mess state was in, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Friday said that the National Conference Congress alliance symbolises deceit and treachery in Jammu and Kashmir.
The alliance has always brought miseries and added to the sufferings of people. The history is testimony of the fact that the coalition of the two parties has never done any good for the state of Jammu and Kashmir, PDP minister, Naeem Akhtar, told media persons after attending a poll review meeting here at the party headquarters.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Minister and senior party leader Imran Raza Ansari to review the ongoing poll campaign for Srinagar-Budgam parliamentary constituency for which Nazir Ahmed Khan has been fielded as party candidate, a PDP statement said.
Asserting that the leadership of the two parties have understood that they cannot stand alone against Peoples Democratic Party he said, the two parties are down and out. They are just trying to hoodwink the people with their utterances and political drama as they are fighting the battle for their survival.
This, he said, was not for the first time Dr Abdullah was seeking mandate from this parliamentary constituency. In fact Dr Farooq and his son Omar have made their political debut from this constituency and made it as a stepping stone for getting ministerial berth in New Delhi. I will be happy to known if the duo can pinpoint a single major intervention they have made in this parliamentary segment which may be seen as their contribution as a public representative in the parliament.
Responding to a question, Akhtar said, the moral stand that Dr Farooq Abdullah, the alliance candidate for by-polls, is trying to take on Kashmir today doesnt stand anywhere because whatever problem Jammu and Kashmir was facing today was the outcome of his party and the Congress handling better part of last 60 years of governance in the state.
If we feel that we are disempowered today it is because of their politics and policies. These two parties and the leadership are the real architects and implementers of this, he said adding that whenever the two came together the main aim was to gain power. Whenever they formed an alliance they brought miseries and added to the sufferings of general masses, he said adding In 1987 the two parties fought the elections together and we are still facing the brunt.
Again, he said, in 2008 when Omar Abdullah took over the reign of power he is on record to say that that he was receiving the state in much better state than his predecessor did but when he left it in alliance with Congress all the institutions in the state were devastated. The present unrest among the masses was the outcome of the policies and programmes the two parties followed during their six years of governance since 2008 reversing all achievements made by PDP led government on the political and development fronts.
Abdullahas are known for double speak and stands. They oppose dialogue and peace process with Pakistan and instead advocate war when in power and bracket themselves with separatists when they sit in opposition, he said adding, They have raising the slogan of Plebiscite Aazadi and Autonomy when they are out of power only as a political trump card to exploit the public sentiments.
He added that the two parties can’t be separated from the problems in Jammu and Kashmir but have been actually a part of it. They are the real problem Jammu and Kashmir has been ailing with, he said adding, now they have joined hands again and this doesnt go well if they come anywhere near success.
The electorates were wise enough to understand the political dichotomy of the two parties, he said adding, the PDP candidates will win both the constituencies with thumping majority.
NC Fighting A Lost Battle: Imran Ansari
Intensifying election campaign for Srinagar-Budgam Lok Sabha constituency, senior party leader and Minister Imran Raza Ansari Friday said that National Conference was fighting a lost battle in Jammu and Kashmir.
They (NC leadership) stand exposed before the people of Jammu and Kashmir in general and Kashmir in particular for the double standards and stands. The electorates have punished them for their misdeeds and now they have again taken shelter to Congress in an attempt to seek their political revival, Ansari said while addressing series of public meetings in Chadoora, a PDP statement said.
Earlier Ansari, who is also Party in charge for the constituency, chaired a high level meeting of top party leaders, including ministers and legislators at party headquarters, to review the ongoing campaign process. The party candidate Nazir Ahmed Khan was also present.
Ansari said that National Conference could not find a candidate to be fielded in Srinagar-Budgam constituency as such had to push Dr Farooq Abdullah. The party is running on crutches. It has not only betrayed the people of state but its own workers, he said.
National Conference-Congress coalition has always brought chaos and uncertainty in the State by propagating oppressive policies, he said while lamenting that instead of adopting humanistic approach to address grievances of the common masses, the two parties and their leaders have brazenly mis-used State apparatus to gag genuine voice of the people.
He said that the credibility of the both Congress as well as National Conference has reached at its lowest ebb because they have lost faith of the people. The electorates are wise enough to understand the gimmick of this party and its leadership and their utterances they are making during the election days, he said.
Karra For Fight Against BJPs Anti-Muslim Tirade
Senior Congress member and former MP Tariq Hamid Karra on Friday made a passionate appeal to the people of Kashmir to unite and foil the machinations of RSS-BJP combine which has been given passage into the Valley by the PDP.
We have to stand and defeat anti-Muslim and anti-Article 370 forces collectively, Karra said while addressing a joint election meeting of the National Conference- Congress supporters at Shivpora here this afternoon, an NC statement said.
Karra said that Sangh Parivar has been conspiring for the past nearly seven decades to repeal Article 370 and dilute the state subject laws but the stiff resistance of the people has always made them lick the dust. Now, they are day-dreaming to accomplish their nefarious agenda by aligning with the PDP, he said and warned that the people will teach them such a lesson which posterity will remember all the times to come.
The former MP pledged to fight anti-Muslim campaign of the RSS and called upon people to meet this challenge collectively by maintaining time tested Hindu, Muslim, Sikh Unity.
He exhorted the people to come forward in a big way and vote for Dr Farooq Abdullah and Ghulam Ahmed Mir, saying that support to the NC-Congress candidates will be defeat of anti-Kashmir and anti-Muslim forces.
Karra Is A Turncoat, Owes Explanation To Voters
Peoples Democratic Party members on Friday came down heavily upon the Congress terming it as a direction less party which has hoodwinked people of Jammu and Kashmir for its political interests.
Several party legislators and leaders addressed series of election meetings across Anantnag-Pulwama Lok Sabha constituency in support of party candidate Tassaduq Hussain Mufti, a PDP statement said.
Taking a dig at opposition National Conference and Congress, Minister of State and MLA Dooru Syed Farooq Andrabi said that Jammu and Kashmir has suffered since decades due to the political misdeeds of these organizations.
Interacting with the people during his visit to various localities of Dooru Shahbad the Minister said that people were aware about the misdeeds of Congress and NC leadership and how they have sacrificed the interest of people for their short gains.
He asked the party cadres to act as agents of change as they have a crucial role to play and a great responsibility to discharge in shaping up the peaceful atmosphere.
Addressing similar election meetings in Pahalgam assembly segment, former legislator and senior party leader Rafi Ahmed Mir termed Tariq Hameed Karra as a turncoat who has always been self centric. He wanted a ministerial place in the union cabinet for which he continuously pressurized and blackmailed the party leadership. Today he is out there to criticize the same PDP which gave him political identity and credibility, he said.
His was pursing personal ambition least realizing that a Member Parliament gets highest forum to talk about. He never used the forum for which he was sent there. He was also missing from public discourse and debate from day one, Mir said.
Asserting that Karra owes explanation to the people and those who voted him, he said, this objection to PDP-BJP was an afterthought. Infect he was the first who ran to the TV proposing, rightly though, that the alliance was the only way out.
Today, he said, he is praising the same party and same candidate he had fought against. He is praising the same person against whom he fought the last election on PDP ticket, he said.
