JAMMU: The Election Commission of India on Wednesday issued notification for conduct of biennial elections to 6 seats of Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Council (MLCs).
As per the notification, March 29 has been fixed last date of filing nominations, while as scrutiny of papers will be held on March 30 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is April 3, an official spokesperson said.
As per the notification, the elections will be held on April 17, 2017. The voting hours have been fixed from 9:00AM to 4:00 PM.
Secretary, J&K Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly has been appointed Returning Officer, while as Deputy Secretary, Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly has been appointed as Assistant Returning Officer for the conduct of the election, the notification reads.
Among the six members, to be elected, three members each shall be from Kashmir and Jammu Provinces. Amongst the three members of Jammu Province one shall be the resident of Poonch District.
