SRINAGAR: Senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member and Member of Parliament, Muzzafar Hussain Baig has underscored the need of involvement of every stakeholder for establishing permanent peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir.
He was addressing a workers meeting, at the party headquarters on Monday, which was organised to accord welcome to the party leader, Nazir Ahmad Khan, who filed nomination papers for by polls for Srinagar parliamentary constituency on Monday, a PDP statement said.
Earlier Baig along with the senior party leaders, Imran Raza Ansari, MLA; Mohammad Khurshid Aalam, MLC; Bashir Ahmad Mir and Muntazir Mohuidin accompanied Khan to the Returning Officers office in Srinagar for filing his nomination papers.
The party statement quoting Baig said that North Kashmir MP hoped that everyone will come to believe in the battle of ideas through peaceful means so that our own people dont suffer any more. He assured the people of Jammu and Kashmir that PDP will fulfil all its promises and accomplish the desired agenda of resolution of all problems through reconciliation and dialogue.
Any delay in implementation of the peace, development and resolution was only impeded by the uncongenial atmosphere and unfortunate happenings ever since the party formed the government, he said.
Referring to the contribution of the party towards changing the political discourse in the entire subcontinent, he said, it is the sum-total of individual efforts by our workers in creating a viable political alternative that advocated peace and dialogue.
Baig said, in Nazir Ahmad Khan the party has chosen a candidate who has a long history of sacrifice and struggle for public service at his back. Nazir represents aspirations of youth as young and energetic political activist and it is this narrative that should be in focus during the entire election campaign.
In his address, Imran Raza Ansari said, the PDP is committed to the implementation of the Agenda of Alliance, however, there is need for a congenial and peaceful atmosphere for the government to pursue its agenda.
Implementation of Agenda of Alliance stands guarantee to political stability in the state and meeting the aspirations of its people. The party is committed for it, he said.
He lauded the efforts of the government for ensuring basic necessities and essential services like ration, electricity, health services and drinking water facilities to people despite the uncertainty, and said that government has effectively rolled out these services and will continue to serve the people of the state.
Speaking on the occasion, Nazir Ahmad Khan said, National Conference is a discredited party, which has always taken the interests of people and the state for granted for the sake of power.
Time and again, NC has made compromises and it is now a group of few individuals with no specific and clear agenda. Only thing the party wants is to grab power and for that it will go to any extent, he said.
