Srinagar: In a stark show apathy all the four official landline numbers widely publicised by Jammu Kashmir Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA) in the interest of people in the State do not exist.
JAKEDA, Department of Science and Technology on Saturday published a half page advertisement in some local dailies informing the consumers registered with Power Development Dept to submit their forms if they are interested in the installation of Grid Connected Solar Roof Top Power Plants at their houses. The JAKEDA advertisement further reads that interested people can avail 70 per cent subsidy from the Government of India.
Besides giving contact numbers of their district offices, the JAKEDA according to news agency CNS had published four landline official numbers two each for Srinagar and Jammu. However, ironically all these landline numbers (2487534 and 2467854) for Srinagar and (2546495 and 2490269) for Jammu dont exist at all.
Much to the discomfort of the interested people majority of the contact numbers of district offices given in the advertisement were switched off or dont exist at all. For Ganderbal, Srinagar and Budgam the contact numbers given in the advertisement were not available. Similarly other numbers were either out of order or the cell phones were switched off.
The official website of JAKEDA that carries the message of Minister for Social Welfare, ARI & Trainings and Science & Technology Sajad Gani Lone shows that, the landline number (2490269) published by it in the advertisement for Jammu province is the landline (fax) number for its office located at Tawanai Ghar,Iqra Colony,Bemina Srinagar.
Pertinently, JAKEDA was set up in the year 1989 under the administrative control of the department of science & technology,J&K Govt. The objectives of JAKEDA as state nodal agency are the promotion and development of renewable energy programmers/projects. The mandate of the agency covers the entire gamut of renewable energy resources such as solar, wind, mini/micro Hydel, biomass and geothermal sources.
