Srinagar: A former Block Medical Officer (BMO), besides three other officials were arrested for allegedly misappropriating government funds meant for salaries and implementation of schemes in Kashmir valley.
A spokesperson of State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) here today said that three officials, including a former BMO Dr Fayaz Ahmad Banday, Cashier Mushtaq Ahmad Parray and Block Medical office Beerwah Zahoor Ahmad Banday, were today arrested by vigilance.
He said the accused had during the year 2008 to 2011 allegedly misappropriated government funds to the tune of Rs 1.54 crore meant for salary of employees and for implementation of different schemes in central Kashmir district of Budgam.
In another case, the VOK today arrested former Warden of Kastooba Gandhi Balika Vidiyalaya (KGBV) Boniyar, Sajad Ahmad Mir, for allegedly misappropriating funds to the tune of Rs 25 lakh during fiscal year 2013-14 under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) scheme in north Kashmir district of Baramulla.
The Investigation in both the cases is going on for further course of action, he added.
