Jammu: Union Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office Dr Jitendra Singh today said that National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah must show courage to bring the ‘misguided’ youth of Kashmir to the right path.
Dr Singh was in town to attend the BJP meeting, chaired by National General Secretary Ram Madhav, here this afternoon.
His reaction came against the backdrop of Dr Abdullah’s remarks that Kashmir is a political issue and cannot be solved by economic package.
“Whatever he said is quite disappointing,” Dr Singh told reporters.
He said that one could not expect this from somebody of a stature of Dr Farooq Abdullah, who has been into the political arena of the country, for the decades together.
“May be faced by a tough election contest, he is feeling tempted to take such issues, which according to him, is music to certain constituencies,” the Union Minister said.
”But as a statesman, we would have been expecting that rising above the vote politics, he (Farooq) would have in fact initiate and shown the courage to bring the ‘misguided’ youth to the right path,” he asserted.
Dr Singh said, “because anything which tends to endorse directly or indirectly separatism or terrorism supporting terrorism is likely to have unhealthy effect overall, in view of Kashmir.”
