SHOPIAN : Police arrests a person allegedly for spreading rumours and of fake news to provoke people by using social media under Public safety Act (PSA) in Shopian.
Police said that the person identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Dar, 24 resident of Wandina Shopian was spreading rumours for malicious propaganda on using social media.
Police adds that the investigation in the case is going on in accordance to the relevant provisions of law. It added that further considering the activities of the said individual, under relevant provisions, he has been detained under PSA by the competent authorities.
While talking to PTK, Superintendent of Police, Shoipain Tahir Saleem confirmed that a youth has been arrested under PSA for spreading rumours and unlawful activities.
Police has appealed the general public not to be part of any such group which spreads rumours and indulge in such activities adding that the violators shall be strictly dealt under the ambit of law.
