Srinagar: National Conference Working President Omar Abdullah on Friday called Veteran Photojournalist and AFP Photographer Tauseef Mustafa and strongly condemned the assault on him by an officer of the J&K Police.
Inquiring about Tauseefs well-being, Omar Abdullah said he strongly condemned the assault while demanding that the Government and the Police Leadership takes timely and exemplary action against the erring officer.
Media is the fourth estate of a healthy democracy and they have a significant role to play in holding the system accountable and ensuring injustice and impropriety is highlighted. This spirit of respect for our journalists should be upheld at all costs and I demand that stern action should be taken against the erring police officer, Omar Abdullah said.
