Srinagar: Resistance leadership on Thursday urged people to boycott upcoming elections, saying it provides India an opportunity to mislead world community.
In a joint press release, Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik while calling on people to boycott upcoming elections, said that amid ten lakh forces personnel, the election drama has lost relevance and credibility.
Meanwhile a Hurriyat spokesman said : resistance leadership had called an immediate press conference and media was accordingly informed. But authorities denied media to attend said press briefing. Meanwhile a large contingent of police present didnt allow party activists and media to cover the event. Later Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik were arrested and taken to police station Humhama.
Spokesman, Ayaz Akbar said that Mirwaiz, Malik along with pro-freedom activists were not allowed to meet Syed Ali Geelani .It was later that Geelani sahib along with party activists came out of his residence and after deliberating over prevailing situation, decided to address media but media men were not allowed to report event .The leadership in order to meet press moved towards Airport road, however they were arrested and lodged in police station Humhama.
Joint leadership while lashing at state authorities said that police action and restrictions on press conference proved that upcoming elections are mere drama .It is not a democratic process but better to say a drama being enacted with the help of armed forces, they said.
Allow us to meet people ,asked joint leadership and said that not a single person will cast their vote, while challenging state authorities .They are strangulating the legitimate voice and they and their agents will be exposed, said resistance leaders .
Ridiculing authorise in Delhi for their shameful tactics, the leadership said that through these elections they have always installed their blue-eyed stooges to mislead world opinion.
Warning people against the ploy being played by state administration, the leadership said that through these elections they are hatching conspiracies to prolong forced occupation and said that for time being we have rescheduled the programme and decided to concentrate on election boycott.
They said that after completing 250th day of Intifada, the authorities have kick started election drama just to divert peoples attention from resistance movement.
We feel our duty, to apprise our people about the deceitful political game of authorities and outcome of this election drama, said leadership and asked people to be aware of their folly against ongoing freedom movement. They are hell-bent to defame and to spoil our efforts.
