Awantipur: Scores of students at the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) located on Srinagar-Jammu highway at Awantipora Thursday held strong protest against what they called highhandedness of the men in uniform in Kalaroos on Wednesday.
Pertinently, a little girl was killed while another boy suffered injuries during an encounter between government forces and militants. Police claimed that stray bullets killed the girl and wounded the kid.
Eyewitnesses told CNS that the students during their protest raised pro-freedom and anti-India slogans and marched through different parts of the University.
Carrying placards, the protesting students said that people of Valley are aghast over the forces action in Kalaroos Kupwara. First they kill with intention and then use the term stray bullets for the death of innocent civilians, said one of the protesting students adding that Kashmir is the only part on planet where terms like undeclared curfew, restrictions, cross firing, and stray bullets, has been coined by the authorities.
They alleged forces of human rights violations in nook and corner of Kashmir, sources said. Later the students dispersed peacefully.
