Srinagar: The incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah on Monday said the UP win has provided the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi a golden opportunity to resolve Kashmir issue.
He also suggested Modi-led government to stop creating instability in neighbouring countries.
In a statement, Shah termed Modis remarks about Kashmir in his speech as unrealistic saying the reality (of Kashmir dispute) wont change by intimidating those associated with freedom movement.
Modi has once again shown his arrogance which is aimed at justifying the state-sponsored bloodshed in Kashmir. Instead of issuing such statements, Modi should resolve the core issue as people of Jammu Kashmir will never give up their struggle for freedom, he said.
The DFP chairman said people of Jammu Kashmir never take seriously such unrealistic points mentioned by Indian PM. We have born and grown up under the shadow of Indian barbarity and are not scared of prisons and gallows. Fear is a thing alien to us and backtracking from freedom movement the blasphemy, he said.
Commenting on elections in India, Shah said Kashmiris have nothing to do with that as the State is not part of the country. What we demand from India is to give Kashmiris the same democratic opportunity to express their verdict through the process they deem best, he said.
Shah also suggested Modi-led government to stop meddling in affairs of neighbouring countries and creating instability on their soil. Weve always been favouring friendly relations between India and Pakistan and want the whole region prosper with the resolution of longstanding Kashmir dispute, he said.
He reiterated that people of Jammu Kashmir have no animosity with those of India but with the government of that country which rules us by the dint of military might and unleashes a reign of terror through use of lethal weapons.
On the elections conducted in the State, Shah termed the process as farce and sham saying even the world hasnt yet acknowledged the legitimacy of Indian-sponsored elections in Jammu Kashmir which are done under the shadow of gun.
The reality will only be known to all when elections will be carried out under the auspices of any impartial observer body, Shah added.
