New Delhi: Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram today slammed the BJP for what he called manipulating numbers to form government in Goa and Manipur where his party has emerged as the single largest group in the Assembly polls.
Chidambaram said the BJP was in fact stealing elections in Goa, a day after the state governor invited Manohar Parrikar to form government after he was chosen as legislature party leader.
”A party that comes second has no right to form the government. BJP stealing elections in Goa and Manipur,” Chidambaram tweeted.
Parrikar yesterday submitted evidence before the Governor, the support of 13 MLAs of BJP, 3 MLAs of Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), 3 MLAs of Goa Forward Party (GFP) and two independent MLAs.
The Governor has asked Mr Parrikar to ‘prove majority on the floor of the House in the Legislative Assembly Session within 15 days after administration of oath of office and secrecy.
In Manipur, the BJP has claimed support of four MLAs of National Peoples Party and the lone MLA of Trinamool Congress. The Congress has emerged as the single largest party having 28 seats, while the BJP has come second with 21 seats. However, it has somehow managed to rope in all the other MLAs, including those, who were supporting the Congress
