Baramulla: Land mafia in connivance with some government officials has encroached a large chunk of state-land and has created structures on it in Rebon Rafiabad area of North Kashmirs Baramulla district.
According to locals, Rural and Development Department spend Rs 6 lakhs on the land filling of a pond in the area and shortly after the completion of the said work; vested interest elements grabbed the land and created structures on it.
The irony is that Deputy Commissioner Baramulla in his official circular vide number ACD/WS/2150-51 to concerned Tehsildar had directed the authorities to dismantle the illegal structures on the said land, but even after the expiry of a year, no action was taken while according to local the illegal structures are intact on the government land.
You are directed to visit the spot and remove all sorts of illegal encroachment from the said land and submit action taken report to this office within weeks time positively, the order issued by DC Baramulla to concerned Tehsildar in June 2016 reads.
The then Block Development Officer Bashir Ahmed told CNS that on the directions of Assistant Development Commissioner Baramull, he visited the said spot and confirmed to authorities about the illegal encroachment. I submitted my report and confirmed to ADC Baramulla about the illegal occupation of land. I dont know why any action has not been taken, he said.
The then Tehsildar presently posted in Kunzar Tangmarg admitted lackadaisical approach was followed in this regard. The present BDO can easily dismantle these illegal structures, he said. (CNS)
