4 Youths Detained For Pasting LeT Posters

SHOPIAN: Police have arrested four persons for allegedly pasting threatening posters of militant outfit – Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) – in South Kashmirs Shopian district.

Pertinently, threatening posters attributed to LeT had appeared in different parts of South Kashmir wherein people had been directed to observe shutdown from February 26 onwards.

SSP Shopian Tahir Saleem told news agency CNS that police had taken cognizance of such incidents and had registered a formal case at Police Station Shopian.

During the course of investigation and questioning of suspects conducted jointly by Police and Army, it surfaced that a local Faisal Amin alias Chota Geelani of Bonabazar Shopian and his three associates namely Imad Bashir, Zahid Fayaz alias Pintoo and Ubaid Bashir all residents of Shopian town, in a bid to ensure shutdown in the town conceived a plan to download a poster of LeT outfit from social media networking site and past the same in different parts of the district.

For downloading and printing purpose, the suspects had approached a computer shop belonging to one Muzafar Ahmed Mir of Rawalpora Shop. The group thereafter approached a photo-stat shop and got the posters photo copied there, SSP said and added, the group pasted these posters during the intervening night of February 25 and 26 last month which created chaos, confusion and disturbance in the District.

Saleem further said that all the suspects have been arrested. Posters and equipment used for printing the same have also been seized, he added.
