SRINAGAR: Dispelling rumours that the youths from a Pulwama village who are in police custody have been slapped with Public Safety Act (PSA), Deputy Commissioner concerned on Wednesday said that no such youth has been booked under the act.
We have not slapped Publicb Safety Act on any youth who are in police custody. No such case has come to my table, DC Pulwama, Muneer-ul-Islam, told KNS.
19 youths were picked up by J&K police from Ratnipora village in Pulwama on Thursday night, the residents said, as police accused them of being involved in multiple offences.
The parents of these youths today protested at Police station in Pulwama town after rumours went afloat that the youth in police custody have been slapped with PSA and are being shifted to Central Jail Srinagar.
The family members said that their sons are innocent while demanding their immediate release. Four of them are minors, the family members claimed.
Superintendent of Police, Pulwama, Rayees Muhammad Bhat, said that the youths under custody are involved in multiple offences.
The youths are under police custody from the last few days as they are involved in multiple offences in the area, SP Bhat said. However, he said that nobody has been slapped with PSA.
