BUDGAM: Burglars looted a newly-inaugurated branch of Jammu and Kashmir Bank in Mirgund area, hardly two kilometers away from DC office Budgam.
“Some unidentified robbers barged into the Bank and looted an amount of Rs 2 lakh and eighty-seven thousand rupees from the vault of the branch,” said a police official.
“There was no security guard at the bank. The robbers opened the vault and decamped with Rs 2 lakh,” added the officer.
This is the second robbery in J&K Bank this month.
Four masked gunmen had looted another branch of J&K Bank in Turqwangam village in Shopian district of south Kashmir on 15th of this month.
They had managed to loot about Rs 3 lakh from the bank.
Earlier in November and December last year three branches of J&K Bank in Budgam and Pulwama districts of south Kashmir were looted of more than Rs 30 lakh.
