Srinagar: Senior Hurriyat leader and General Secretary of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH), Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Sunday met Hurriyat-G Chairman Syed Ali Geelani at his Hyderpora residence cum office.
Sources in Hurriyat Conference camp told the Kashmir Observer that Sehrai reached office around 11 am. Sherai entered room around the same time and held closed door meeting with Geelani for around one and half hour, ” sources said. They added that after meeting ended, Sehrai left for his home which is located in Baghat area of Srinagar.
It is pertinent to mention here that Sehrai was under arrest since the killing of popular Hizb ul Mujahideen commander, Burhan Wani, on July 08, 2016.
Believed to be successor of Geelani, Sehrai is considered a ‘party man’ “who stands by the party constitution even in crucial junctures”.
Notably, during peak of 2016 civilian uprising, Sehrai had issued orders for deferment of three-yearly elections of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat led by Geelani.
As Secretary General of TeH, he postponed elections for a period of six months upto January 2017.
TeH came in to being in August 2004 and since then has been led by Geelani.
