SRINAGAR: J&K police on Saturday claimed that it busted a Superstructure of Over Ground Sympathizers and recruiters in North Kashmir.
JKP spokesperson today said, with the arrest of one murder accused militant Irshad Ahmad Shah, resident of Seelu, Sopore in Baramulla, police have been able to bust a huge network who were spearheading militant activities and recruitment of local boys in Baramulla and Sopore.
The militant Irshad Ahmad Shah @Irshad Khawja @Tanveer was active with Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militant outfit for more than last 2 years. He along with two other absconders are involved in killing of one civilian namely Eid-ul-Amin Mir, son of Late Abdul Ahad Mir, resident of Maqbool Abad, Bahrampora and conspiracy was hatched in the house of one HM OGW Azhar Imtiyaz of Behrampora who was arrested in case FIR number 128/2016 dated 25.12.2016, the spokesperson detailed in a statement issued by PCR in Srinagar.
With his arrest, the JKP spokesperson said, police, Army and CRPF in Sopore have been able to lay hands on network of over ground activists of outfit who were aiding and abetting militancy, besides luring young boys towards militancy.
In a series of raids, it added, Sopore Police and security forces have arrested nine persons who were influencing young and innocent boys to join militancy.
The spokesperson identified the detained persons as: Mudasir Ahmad Ganie, son of Ghulam Din Ganie, resident of Ladoora; Abdul Majeed Dar, son of Mohammad Munawar Ganie, resident of Ladoora; Ajaz Ahmad Shah, son of Mohammad Sultan, resident of Bismillah Colony, Shangergund Sopore; Azhar Imtiyaz, son of Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir, resident of Behrampora; Ghulam Mustafa Lone, son of Mohammad Ashraf Lone, resident of Thagund; Showkat Ahmad Mir, son of Mohammad Zaffar Mir, resident of Bomai; Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohammad Subhan Bhat, resident of Bomai; Mohammad Yasin Tantray, son of Ghulam Mohammad Tantray, resident of Wadoora Payeen, and Abdul Majid Shah, son of Ghulam Ahmad Shah, resident of Wadoora Payeen.
??It’s pertinent to mention that one Azhar Khan resident of Trich, Kupwara who got killed along with other associate in encounter on February 4th was radical ideologue of the outfit who with other killed militant had gone to Pakistan on passport and received terrorist training there. Both these militants were active in Sopore and Baramulla and with the help of this busted over ground superstructure were enticing young boys from Sopore and Baramulla for militancy, the police further said.
Based on the information which was generated during the course of these investigations some boys (names withheld) who were being recruited for militant activities were counselled and handed over to their families thus saving their lives, the spokesperson said adding, police are appealing the parents to keep watch on their children and not to let them to fall into the trap militant propaganda.
