Srinagar: A militant was killed and five securitymen, including a CRPF officer and a civilian, were injured in gunfight that broke out in north Kashmirs Hajin area of Bandipora district on Tuesday morning.
The security men were injured when joint teams of police, Army and CRPF laid a cordon around Parrey Mohallah, Hajin, after receiving an input about militants presence.
As the cordon was being laid, the hiding militants opened fire in which five security men–a CRPF commandant and four Army jawans–were injured. They have been evacuated to Srinagar-based hospital. A militant has been killed in the gunfight, reports said.
Meanwhile, a civilian was also injured after protests erupted near the site of encounter.
He has been identified as Hilal Ahmad Parrey, son of Mustafa Parrey.
