SRINAGAR: A day after the two civilians were killed in South Kashmirs Kulgam district, the opposition parties on Monday said that the continuous civilian killings are bound to trigger unrest in the Valley again.
The opposition parties said that the promises made by the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti over following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) have proven futile on the ground.
Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) state chief, G A Mir said, yet another (spell of) civilian killings in the Valley seems that the present regime hasnt learnt any lesson from the last years unrest (2106), during which nearly 100 people were killed and thousands were maimed.
Mir said that the promises made by Mehbooba Mufti over handling the local militants has proven hoax on the ground.
It seems that the statements made by Mehbooba Mufti were aimed to befool the people of Kashmir. Her statements over the forces exercising maximum restrain have also turned futile. It seems that the present regime is being run by the RSS, Mir told KNS.
He said, Mehbooba Mufti is completely cordoned by RSS policy. She is taking directions from Nagpur. With taking no care of the civilians, Mehbooba got exposed before the people.
Seconding Mir, National Conference (NC) provisional president, Nasir Aslam Wani said, the continues killing of civilians in Kashmir has exposed the present regimes lies, the promises made by the Chief Minister over following the SOPs has proven futile on the ground.
He said that NC has already asked the government to conduct judicial probe into the Kulgam killings and the maiming of many people there. We again request the state dispensation to exercise restraint and be careful in dealing with such kind of situations so that innocent killings would not take place in future.
Saying that the innocent killings must have been avoided, NC provisional president said that such civilian killings in the Valley can again trigger unrest. When we lose innocent lives, it creates more of alienation and people are bound to agitate for that, Wani said.
