Srinagar: Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was placed under house arrest on Friday to prevent him from leading a protest march to UN office , said a spokesman.
Mirwaiz was supposed to lead a protest march from Jamia Masjid to UN office Sonwar today.
“At 8:45 am, Mirwaiz was told that he has been placed under house arrest,” he said.
Mirwaiz along with Syed Ali Geelani and Muhammad Yasin Malik have called for a UN march after Friday prayers.
