Srinagar: Rail service was suspended for security reasons across the Kashmir valley, where separatists had called general strike today on the fourth death anniversary of Mohammad Afzal Guru.
Guru was hanged and later buried in Delhi’s Tihar jail on this day in 2013
”Yes we have suspended rail service in the valley for security reasons,”said a senior railway official .
Therefore, no train will run on Srinagar-Badgam-Baramulla route in north Kashmir today. Similarly, rail service will also remain suspended on Badgam-Srinagar-Anantnag and Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region track.
This has been done for security reasons following directions from the police, he said.
