Sopore: Government forces Thursday fired teargas shells and resorted to lathicharge to disperse protesters at Sopore who were protesting on the fourth death anniversary of Afzal Guru.
Hundreds of people, mostly youths, took to the streets at several places in Sopore, the hometown of Guru, raising slogans and demanding the body of Afzal.
Reports said that the forces resorted to teargas shelling to disperse the protesters, triggering clashes.
Meanwhile all shops and other business establishments remained closed in Sopore and other parts of the town while public transport remained off the roads
