SRINAGAR: Underscoring the need for greater synergy among the law enforcing agencies, Director General of Police (DGP), Dr S P Vaid has asked to put in place efficient measures for maintaining peace and order.
He said that coordination is imperative to make such efforts successful while ensuring law and order in the State.
Dr Vaid was chairing a high level meeting of senior officers from police, central para-military forces, intelligence agencies and civil administration at Police Control Room (PCR) here on Wednesday, an official spokesperson said.
The meeting was also attended by Range DIsGP and District Superintendents of Police of the Valley through video conference.
DGP, while seeking reports from the Range DIsGP and district Superintendents of Police with regard to law and order scenario in their respective jurisdictions.
He also enquired about the efforts taken in far-flung areas of post snow fall to minimize the problems of the common masses.
Dr Vaid asked the officers to work together with other agencies for keeping law and order maintained in their jurisdictions. He also asked the cops to provide every possible support to civil administration in providing assistance to the people in snow bound areas.
The meeting deliberated on various issues relating to the law and order situation in the Valley. Officers representing different agencies briefed the meeting about the measures put in place for maintaining peace and order and ensure security of the people.
Dr Vaid said that safety and security of the people is our prime concern and every attempt of the elements inimical to peace should be foiled firmly.
JKP with other sister agencies has prevailed rule of law after facing tough challenges and have succeeded to maintain a sense of security among the minds of the people. Public cooperation has helped to make our efforts fruitful and the Organization is giving impetus to strengthen relations with the people for eradication of crimes and drug menace from the society, Dr Vaid said.
DGP said that innovative mechanism was put in place by the law enforcing agencies to foil the ill designs of anti national elements. Monitoring and supervision at different levels has been ensured among file and ranks within the Organization and the peoples faith upon the force has increased the responsibility to ensure peaceful atmosphere in the State, said the DGP.
Dr Vaid asked the officers to maintain surveillance upon the elements trying to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere and take all preventive measures to desist such elements from their ill designs.
We have to deal with the strategy adopted by these elements firmly by using latest technology and counter their negative ideology, he told the officers. He asked to conduct joint patrolling and nakas in the sensitive areas to maintain pressure and surveillance on unwanted activity.
Nobody is above law and one who breaks the law would be dealt firmly, DGP reiterated. He said that while dealing any situations, it should be ensured that law abiding people are not put to any inconvenience during their day today activities.
Earlier, IGP Kashmir Zone, SJM Gillani, briefed the meeting about the measures taken to strengthen the coordination among different agencies and maintain law and order in the Valley. He said that input sharing has ensured good results at different fronts to curb anti-social activities.
