PULWAMA: Locals from Rajpora constituency of South Kashmirs Pulwama district on Monday alleged that the Power Development Department (PDD) has handed over 100 KV power transformer to a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) worker who has not only occupied it but has been asking PDD to install it with the purpose of supplying electricity to only few households.
The locals from Mitrigam Rajpora told a local news agency, CNS, instead of handing over the 100 KV transformer to PDP Coordinator Ali Muhammad Bhat, it was the responsibility of the department to identify a proper location and install it there.
We fail to understand how the transformer landed in the house of PDP worker and why is he pressuring PDD to install it for the benefit of few households only, they said and alleged that due to political intervention, the whole area is reeling under darkness from past few months.
Executive Engineer PDD Gulzar Ahmed said that his department has nothing to do with the issue. Our job is to install it as it is the local MLA (Dr Haseeb Drabu) who has given this transformer to the man. Actually Finance Minister who is also the MLA Rajpora has procured some transformers from some companies under Company Social Responsibility and he has himself distributed them among people. Our job is to install them only, he said.
