Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (g) chairperson, Syed Ali Geelani Friday while demanding impartial investigation into gruesome massacres by international agencies, said that the spirits of people of Kupwara are commendable as during all this period they faced worst situations at the hands of perpetrators.
Thanking people of Kupwara for observing shutdown against Kupwara massacre, Geelani said that it is heart wrenching to see the swelling number of widows and orphans in Kupwara district.
Syed Ali Geelani said that we are duty bound to safe guard all these sacrifices & while ridiculing vested section, Geelani expressed his dismay and anguish that a few self-interested and unscrupulous persons are hell-bent to portray adverse impression about freedom movement, as if people are tired and not interested with ongoing movement.
Referring to shut down on the event of Kupwara massacre, Syed Ali Geelani said that pro-Indian stooges stand exposed and people revived their commitment with martyrs & freedom movement and pledged that they won`t backtrack from ongoing freedom struggle.
Geelani Again Barred from Offering Friday Prayers
All parties Hurriyat Conference strongly condemning the autocratic and egoistic behaviour of state authorities saying that Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani was again barred from offering mandatory Friday congregational prayers.
Since last four years, Syed Ali Geelani continues to be under house arrest and the situation remained unchanged as he is not being allowed to offer religious obligation, a statement issued by Hurriyat Conference (G) on Friday said.
Denouncing state administration, the Hurriyat Conference said, there is no legal, moral or constitutional justification for laying curbs on religious obligations.
The Hurriyat Conference (G) spokesperson, Ayaz Akbar, while condemning these restrictions said that a large contingent of police has been deployed outside residence of Syed Ali Geelani and it is evident that administration has no intentions to lift these restrictions.
Referring to court orders, Akbar said that court in its verdict declared these curbs as illegal and unethical, despite this administration while defying all orders are not allowing him to venture out of his residence.
He condemned the continuous detention of Master Ali Mohammad , Gh Mohammad Tantray, Haji Gh Mohammad, Mohamad Rustum Bhat, Nazir Ahmad Ganai, Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri, Bashir Ahmad Sofi, Ab Khaliq Regu, Shakeel Ahmad Bhat, Manzoor Ahmad Bhagat, Shakir Ahmad Mir, Shakeel Ahmad Yatoo, Nazir Ahmad Mantoo, Javed Ahmad Faley, Mohammad Amin Parray ,Mohammad Yusuf Bhat, Showkat Ahmad Dar, Mohamad Shafi Khan, Mushtaq Ahmad Khandey and Ab Majid Rather and said, administration is harassing and subjecting them to vengeance and despite court orders not releasing them.
Court in its orders though bailing out these detainees are not being released and instead lodged in police stations and torture centres, the statement added.
Ridiculing the statements of Mehbooba Mufti wherein she claimed that those bailed out by court wont be re arrested, Akbar termed it as a brazen lie, and said, her statement about detainees is deceptive and misleading.
The Hurriyat Conference in its appeal to ICRC, Red Cross and international organizations of human rights impressed upon them to take cognizance of detainees and use its influence for their release. (CNS)
