Srinagar: Students of Polytechnic College of Shopian on Saturday blocked Pulwama-Shopian road to protest against the college authorities for usually remaining absent from their duties.
At least 70 students including boys and girls assembled on the main Pulwama-Shopian road and blocked it for half an hour and were chanting slogans against the authorities.
The students told KNS that except English teacher, the staff often remains absent from their duties. We have completed only one subject due to negligence of the staff here, they said.
They said that besides, there is no heating arrangement in the classrooms thereby leaving the students to suffer in these harsh days.
The protesting students said that they unlocked the academic block themselves in the morning after waiting for one hour outside the building because of the irresponsibility of the peon.
The students said that they handed over a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner (DC) regarding the difficulties faced by them.
The students later demanded action against the officials. We appeal to the higher ups to look into the matter and take strict action against the officials who remain absent from their duties and redress their demands of heating arrangements and others, the students demanded
