Srinagar: The Democratic Freedom Party chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah on Tuesday said India cannot mislead the world for long through its deceptive policies but has to express its willingness to resolve the (Kashmir) issue keeping in view the changing global political scenario.
In a statement issued to KNS, Shah said on January 5, 1949, a resolution regarding the political future of Jammu Kashmir was passed in the United Nations and till date 18 further resolutions were passed in this regard.
He said the Kashmir dispute is high among agendas of the United Nations and world nations including India and Pakistan are signatories to the said resolution but India has reneged from its pledges and covenants and wants to maintain hegemony in the region.
Shah said the UN resolutions provide a strong base for the resolution of the vexed dispute of Jammu Kashmir but on one hand, the world institution has failed to implement these and on other India by exhibiting stubbornness continues to commit grave human rights violations in the occupied territory.
Stressing on the United Nations Organization to play its role in resolving the long pending disputes of the world including Kashmir, Palestine, Syria, Iraq, Chechnya, and Myanmar.
The DFP chairman made it clear that Jammu Kashmir was never part of India but annexed by the latter through military invasion during the time of partition and since then continues to commit the worst human rights violations in the region.
Shah said if United Nations won’t resolve the pending disputes of the world at this crucial juncture, the world will plunge into further chaos and uncertainty and will push it to the brink of third world war. He also urged the world leadership to play role in granting rights to the subjugated nations of the world.
Shah reiterated that “we are not against talks between India and Pakistan (to resolve Kashmir) but the prime party to the dispute i.e. Kashmiris cannot be sidelined as without them the issue cannot be resolved”.
Meanwhile, the chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah, who was released last week after six months and continues to be under house arrest, is going to address a press conference on Wednesday at 12 noon.
