SRINAGAR: Even though the Industries and commerce department has spent crores for up- gradation and renovation of existing industrial estates in the state, but still these lack basic amenities and no serious up-gradation has ever taken place.
Sources told KNS that from last four years the industries and commerce department under whose domain the industrial estates are controlled through various agencies and corporations, have spend corores on the up-gradation and renovations, which seems to be un-existing on ground.
Sources said that all industrial estates across the Jammu and Kashmir are lacking the basic amenities, as a result the unit holders are confronting with lot of problems like damaged drains, deplorable road network, lack of distribution of sufficient water supply and also the lack of power distribution transformers with sufficient network.
The funds are released by industries and commerce department through two directorates of Jammu and Kashmir, but these are not judiciously spent on the up- graduation and renovation schemes of industrial estates and these funds go down the drain and maximum funds are pocketed by the officers responsible for such execution works, allege one the industrialist wishing not to be named.
The, SIDCO and DICs are manning these respective industrial estates, are being funded by industries and commerce department for the up-gradation and renovation. Over the last four years these corporations and DICs have received crores of funds for specific work of up-gradation of these industrial estates, but there seems to be no up-gradation work ever taken by these corporations, for which these units have always been clamoring hard for taking of such jobs in perfection, said another industrialist.
One of the leading industrialists of Zanakote stated that ever since the Zankote estate has come up, no serious effort has been ever taken by the authorities to upgrade it so that problems are mitigated.
He further stated that these works only remain in files and crores of rupees are swindled.
Another industrialist of Baribramna has complained that allotment of land in the estates has been taken over by the land grabbers, and is being sold at a much higher premium.
The genuine prospective units have been ignored for allotment of land and the government has just become a mute spectator, said one of the upcoming industrialists.
Another allegation has been leveled against the industries and commerce department that the land allotment committees have just proven to be non functional and non serious, therefore a serious audit of all such allotments should be taken up seriously and outcome brought to public domain.
It is further stated that there is no serious effort on the part of government to establish new industrial estates to accommodate new prospective unit holders. For last five years JK has not seen any new industrial estate and the government looks also not to be serious on this account, they said. (KNS)
