Baramulla: Acting on a written complaint, the Vigilance Organisation Kashmir (VoK) Wednesday, laid a successful trap to nab Custodian Trade Facilitation Centre (TFC) Salamabad while receiving Rs 50,000 as bribe to clear 6 load carriers to cross over to Muzaffarabad.
The official identified as Farooq Ahmad Shah had reportedly withheld six load carriers laden with different merchandize and was not giving them clearance to cross the LoC to Muzaffarabad (PaK).
Despite the complainant submitting all the related documents to the concerned officer, the erring official had threatened to cancel his registration if he failed to pay him an amount of Rs. 50,000 as bribe.
On the receipt of the complaint, the Vigilance Organisation registered a case vide FIR No.01/2017, P/S VOK, U/s 5(2) 4(A) P.C Act 2006, P/S VOK and constituted a team which laid a successful trap and arrested the accused. The official was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe of Rs. 50000 in presence of independent witnesses. Further investigation of the case has been taken up. (PTK)
