Srinagar: Officials of Legal Metrology Department today imposed fine of Rs 20,000 on a Restaurant in Srinagar for charging extra than Maximum Retail Price (MRP).
Following a complaint, a team of the department inspected the restaurant and found that the restaurant management was charging double than MRP on mineral water bottles. A challan was filed against the restaurant for overcharging its customers and was fined accordingly.
In a statement, Department said that under Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011, no commercial establishment can charge more than MRP. (PTK)
