Poonch: Two officials of Revenue Department were today booked by police for cheating a man by doing fake ‘intkaal’ of land in Mendhar town of Poonch district.
Reports said about 5 years back one Muhammad Bashir, son of Akka, resident of Chak Bonala (Mendhar) was cheated by Abdul Kabeer, the then Girdwar of Mendhar (presently Naib Tehsildar of Harni) and Jaanbaz Khan, the then Patwari, Mendhar (presently Patwari of Lanjote and four other Halqas), by doing fake ‘intkaal’ of one kanal land for which they also took an amount of Rs 1.27 lakh from Bashir.
However, when Muhammad Bashir went to take control of the land, it (land) turned out to be a cremation ground. When he approached them, they again cheated him by doing ‘intkaal’ of Masjid land. Thereafter, Bashir ran from pillar and post but no one heard his complaint.
Finally, reports said, Bashir yesterday knocked the door of the court, which ordered Mendhar police to book both the revenue officials for fraud. Accordingly while implementing court orders, Mendhar police registered a case FIR No 185/2016 under Sections 420, 467, 468 RPC and launched a manhunt to nab the accused revenue officials, who are absconding.(GNS)
