Srinagar: Amid relaxation in shutdown, massive traffic jam was witnessed at various areas of summer capital Srinagar on Saturday resulting in the immense hardships to the commuters.
Commuters faced tremendous hardships throughout the day as massive traffic Jam was witnessed in several areas including commercial Hub Lal Chowk, Regal Chowk, Maharja Bazar, Hari Singh High Street, Jahangir Chowk and other areas.
Other than commuters, pedestrians also faced hardships due to the massive traffic jams. “There is no way to walk. The roads are fully flooded with the vehicles,” a pedestrian said.
According to KNS correspondent, hundreds of vehicles were seen stranded in the gridlock today.
Commuters blamed street vendors and wrong parkers for massive traffic jam. “The street vendors who have occupied the roadsides and vehicle owners who have parked their vehicles in wrong way are among the main causes of gridlock here.”
“I am fed up with this traffic jam. I am stranded in this gridlock from past one hour,” Junaid Ahmad, one of the commuters said
He said that despite private and public transports he saw an ambulance which also remained stranded for a long time.
Notably, it is the fifth full day relaxation in the ongoing uprising since July 08 following the uprising in Kashmir that triggered after the killing of Hizb Commander Burhan Wani during a gunfight in Bumdoora village of Kokernag area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. (KNS)
