Kupwara: At a time when private schools have been busy in exacting fee from parents, the teachers working in majority of the private institutions have been alleging that they were deprived of their salaries.
A group of teachers from Bright Public School at Sogam Lolab area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district accused school proprietor of misbehavior and humiliation. “The school proprietor who exacted fee from the parents refused to give us salaries. He not only abused us but also threatened of dire consequences in case we report the incident to anyone,” said a female teacher adding that it was disgusting and heartbreaking the way school owner behaved with them.
“The School owner exacted fee from parents on the pretext that school has to provide salaries to the teachers. After fleecing parents, he has now refused to pay us even a penny,” one of the teachers Irfan Jamsheed Bhat told a Srinagar based news agency.
President Private School Association Kashmir G. N Var condemned the attitude of the chairman. He said that an ‘enquiry committee’ will be constituted to probe the matter.
Terming the allegations baseless, owner of the School who is also a Government Teacher said that they will provide salaries to the teachers once fee collection process is completed.—CNS
